Acupuncture Changed my Life

My first experience with Acupuncture was during my fertility journey nearly 18 years ago, I tucked a thought away... after this experience "I want to learn to do that."

I had uterine fibroids and I used acupuncture as part of my regimen to help me heal my womb and start my family. I used acupuncture, a diet reset, exercise, massage and alternative therapies.

To the surprise of my OB/GYN, I had 3 daughters and continued over the years to live a healthy lifestyle with nutrition, massage, acupuncture and exercise as part of my life.

In the past 5 years, I began to have some perimenopause symptoms and the GYN suggested having surgery and I rebelled again. I sought out Acupuncture, this time I was even more curious and that urge nudged me again. I wanted to learn this medicine. The pandemic put a fear about stability in the massage industry, yet I still wanted to continue to help people heal from within.

I knew could do that with Acupuncture.

I worked with my Acupuncturist as I was headed into perimenopause, she helped to regulate my cycles in a few months and that was all the convincing I needed to take the leap to apply for Acupuncture school. Today I am feeling blessed that I completed my Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Graduating May 2024. It was a long hard road and the self-sacrifice as well as the sacrifice my family had to endure makes me emotional and proud that we made the three years and 4 months work so I could reach this goal. The benefits that I have experienced in my personal health and the many ways I have gleaned from my research and clinical experience of my patients, I want to share Acupuncture with my community.

What is Acupuncture? Acupuncture is an amazing medicine that is capable of treating various physical, mental and emotional conditions. The treatment consists of inserting a tiny needle into the skin at particular points around the body. This medicine is thousands of years old and includes not only needles, but heat, herbs, cupping, massage, electrical stimulation, moxibustion, lifestyle changes, behavior modification in order to set healing into action.

Our bodies are capable of healing itself and a series of treatments will help with gauging the bodies environment and treating the disharmony. The theories behind this medicine are about balance and harmony in the body and when there is disharmony this leads to dis-ease and illness. How does this work? The free flow of energy in the meridians in the body is key to health; Acupuncture can stimulate function in the bodies physiological systems. Acupuncture has proven results in affecting the nervous system, endocrine system, immune system, cardiovascular system, digestive system and more. What to expect? Your treatment is customized your practitioner will choose an individualized treatment plan. You will lay on a massage table, giving access to the area where the needles are placed. your comfort is important to the treatment. Most people say there is minimal discomfort with the needle placement. Treatment can last anywhere from 10min to 1hour. Acupuncture can not only treat pain, but digestive upset, allergies, chronic illness, insomnia, PTSD, depression, anxiety, morning sickness, effects of chemo, PMS, irregular menses, overall health and wellbeing.
